City of Pittsburg Launches Small Business Highlight Project

In July, City of Pittsburg Economic Development Department launches small business highlight, a long-term project promoting locally owned restaurants and small businesses through multiple ways. The small business highlight project has been pushed through various platforms, including the city website, city Instagram account, and prospectively an individual web page.

City of Pittsburg Economic Development Department staffs work with local business owners to gather information, photos, and/or video footages which can help demonstrating and promoting the restaurants and businesses. Selected and edited photos and/or videos, along with the brief introduction of the small business, will be posted on a weekly basis, which is expected to last into the future.

The City Instagram account has created a hashtag #foodiefriday for local restaurants that are posted each Friday online. Selected photos for restaurants include exterior and interior appearances, sample food images, and potentially restaurant staffs. The style and the addresses of the restaurants are provided on Instagram posts and city website.

While initial posts mainly consist of photos, Economic Development Department staff are producing videos, vlogs , and more types of media for future business highlight posts. With the help of City of Pittsburg Community Outreach Department, one can expect more short but lively video clips promoting local restaurants and businesses on city Instagram account. All posts have been translated into Spanish to better serve residents with Spanish-speaking background.
